Installation Instructions (Desktop)

The following instructions are intended for installation of Schemax Calendar at the desktop. [Note to IT administrators - For remote deployment of Schemax Calendar using Group Policy or other administrative installation methods see this article].

System Requirements

Windows XP or Vista
Outlook 2003 or 2007
Exchange Server 2003 or 2007 (Schemax Calendar Enterprise only)

Permissions

You must have administrative rights to install Schemax Calendar on your computer. [Note: if another user installed Schemax Calendar you need to perform an additional step to configure Schemax Calendar for your computer account. See step 16 below.]

Instructions

1. Download install.exe and save to a folder on your computer. Next, double-click on install.exe.

2. Click Next.

3. The installation program will extract the necessary setup files to a sub folder of the folder containing the downloaded file. Click Next.

Steps 4. to 10. assume that none of the prerequisites are already on your computer so you may not see all the windows shown below.

4. [Optional] If you do not have the .NET Framework 2.0 installed on your computer, the setup program will download the necessary files (~25MB) and install this software for you. Click Accept to continue.

5. [Optional] If you do not have the Visual Studio Tools for Office Second Edition installed on your computer, the setup program will download the necessary files (~2MB) and install this software for you. Click Accept to continue.

6. [Optional] If you do not have the Adobe SVG Viewer 3.03 installed on your computer, the setup program will install this software for you. Click Install to continue.

7. [Optional] A window displays the progress of any necessary downloads.

8. [Optional] A window displays the progress of the Adobe SVG Viewer 3.03 installation.

9. [Optional] A window displays the progress of the .NET Framework 2.0 installation.

10. [Optional] A window displays the progress of the Visual Studio Tools for Office Second Edition installation.

11. Once any necessary prerequisites have been installed, the Schemax Calendar setup wizard will take you through the remaining steps. Click Next to continue.

12. Click Next to continue.

13. Click Next to continue.

14. A window displays the progress of the Schemax Calendar installation.

15. Once Schemax Calendar has been installed a confirmation window appears to indicate the setup process is complete. A web page will also appear with helpful links to online tutorials and other documentation.

16. [Optional] If you do not have administrative privileges and Schemax Calendar was installed by another user, you will need to perform this additional step to configure Schemax Calendar for your computer account.

Open up the folder where the downloaded file install.exe was saved. Open up the sub-folder setup and then another sub-folder Post Install. Locate the file scHKCU.bat (see figure opposite) and double-click on this file. Next time you open Outlook, Schemax Calendar will load properly.
